Faust's Growth - The Co-Operative British Youth Film Academy (Trailer) (2012)

Working as the 1st Assistant Director and 2nd Unit Director as part of the British Youth Film Academy, I was able to learn how to operate within a large group for 5 weeks to produce a feature length film (85minutes). This was the first project that I had worked on as part of a production team and it gave me such confidence in knowing that this was the correct career path for me.

Kodaline - All I Want (2013)

 

As part of our narrative music video unit, I produced this 5:05 minute video choosing strong themes as my subject. I chose to shoot it in black and grey really for the reason that it suited the subject matter and theme perfectly; the story of abandonment, hope, loss and love. Had the film been kept in colour, I believe the effect wouldn't have been as strong. Although there are some issues such as the lighting and less of a variety of shots, I'm very happy with the narrative for this and some of the composition of the shots.

A Tattoo Is Not Just For Christmas (2013)

I produced this short 12:16 minute observational documentary on the tattoo industry and the reasons why people get tattoos. This was my biggest personal project so far, in terms of sourcing footage and interviews from Liverpool to Bradford and arranging the spaces in which I could film in. I like to go out and explore my subject matter rather than being confined by a certain area - for my current advert production the client that I have chosen to work with is based in Manchester.

Odei - (2013)

 

This is a taster of the rough cut for the 15minute silent film that I directed and produced as part of a team production at college. We shot on location in Spain and came across many difficulties; such as not knowing the location beforehand and having no lighting equipment, which affected our schedule in terms of what we could shoot when. I'm very pleased however with what was achieved by a crew of 10 on a 6 day shoot, but I would have liked more time to achieve more shots and to pay more attention to the set design.

I was asked back by the directors I worked with for Faust's Growth to work as the 1st Assistant Director for this short. This was a production on a much smaller scale as it was a 2 week shoot yet we had to overcome many more issues, such as arranging logistics as we shot wholly on location, environmental problems such as the insects, weather conditions and re-organising the production schedule due to the obstacles we faced.
